We are still using leeches to practice Healthcare

National Public Radio and Minnesota Public Radio, Wiconsin Public Radio, Michigan Public Radio--- publicly owned, Wall Street controlled

As I traveled across Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan the last three weeks I listed to National Public Radio and its state and local affiliates--- nothing but lies, racism and distortion of the facts with a smidgeon of truth tossed in once in a while to provide that "kernel of truth" always needed to make the lies palatable and acceptable for public consumption.

There is a great deal of confusion as to just what National Public Radio, its state and local stations are. Some say Public Radio has changed. This is the same old National Public Radio that it has ever been.

NPR has always been publicly financed to the hilt by tax-payers and listeners and by the great "philanthropists."

Who are these "philanthropists?"

These "philanthropists" are the same Wall Street coupon clippers who exploit working people 24/7 and rape the land all over the world.

The problem with NPR is that the "philanthropists" wield their influence over NPR very directly because they force and push their views using their "financial gifts" to manipulate, control and dictate to NPR.

These are the very same "philanthropists" who are backing Obama and all the other Wall Street politicians.

These are the same "philanthropists" who own the mines, mills and factories whose wealth is derived from "Manifest Destiny" in stealing the land and resources from First Nations Peoples and whose wealth is derived from slavery and the exploitation of working people who protect their assets through wars in the same way as they get tax-payers to fund their views on NPR.

The state and national mobster dominated Indian Gaming Industry has used their "contributions" to NPR and the various state public radio (and Public Television) to make sure the conditions over two-million people employed in the Indian Gaming Industry forced to work in loud, noisy, smoke-filled casinos at poverty wages without any rights under state or federal labor laws never get discussed.

In many ways, NPR is the embodiment and "flag-ship" providing direction for the corporate dominated and owned MainStreamMedia (MSM). The only difference is that NPR is publicly owned and Wall Street manipulated and controlled--- pretty much like the two-major parties; and in case you haven't noticed, NPR baits the two-party trap.

Here in Minnesota we have a very good example of how the corporations control Public Radio--- just tune into KAXE and you will find that this station is the voice of the Blandin Foundation, the mining companies and the Indian Gaming Industry--- corporations using a public institution to try to brainwash people into believing that this rotten capitalist system that has has morphed into a thoroughly rotten barbaric and cannibalistic system of Wall Street wars funded through austerity measures protecting the investments and assets of the Wall Street Coupon clippers is the "cat's meow" and the working class socialist alternative is the epitome of "evil."

By the time one gets done listening to NPR and its state affiliates like Minnesota Public Radio and KAXE one would think that there is no class struggle--- that Wall Street's problems and the problems of the working class are one and the same with the solutions to these problems identical; even though the source of the problems are never discussed in a way that would lead us to believe that capitalism is the system of the few wealthy owners of the banks, mines, mills, factories, big-agribusiness, forestry, power generating, health care and communication industries with the alternative cooperative socialist system being a better system for the rest of us.

National Public Radio (and television) is just like anything else in this country--- in the name of "philanthropy" the rich control it; and just like Wall Street's wars--- we pay for it.

All you hear on public radio is a bunch of over-paid capitalist Sooth-sayers making pitches for money none-stop as high-paid management sits behind the scenes making sure the system that has enriched "the great philanthropists" is never challenged .

Ever heard a good discussion on NPR about what cause poverty?  Of course not because the finger would point directly at "the great philanthropists" who dictate the programming of National Public Radio and its state and local affiliates.

I wouldn't contribute a single penny to keep this dog-and-pony show going.

The people should take control of NPR by taking our government back from Wall Street.

For good jobs with real living wages provide the American people with free health care and free child care

For good jobs at real living wages provide the American people with free health care and free child care.

Why this subservience by organized labor to Obama and the Democrats? There are plenty of working people, including union members, who are fed up with both the Democrats and the Republicans and workers have a right to expect that organized labor will show the courage to lead and not follow Obama and the Democrats into the abyss of wars and poverty.

Obama made the most politically self-serving speech I have ever heard using the problems of the people in a most demagogic way that only a Hitler or Mussolini could appreciate.

While I support Medicare For All as a step towards a National Public Health Care System, I fail to see why we should continue to advocate it since the Wall Street bribed crowd of politicians is never going to budge or bend in accepting it.

In fact, it is the private delivery of health care with Medicare For All that has failed to bring out the American people in large enough numbers to force Congress to consider it.

People see how greedy doctors are in milking and bilking Medicare; the fraud in the system by the doctors and others who aren’t satisfied with the enormous profits the government provides them with to begin with is disgusting that they then have to engage in outright fraud is well-known to all, and hundreds of these crooked doctors are being prosecuted for this fraud.

The solution is a National Public Health Care System— everybody in, nobody out; no-fees/no-premiums, comprehensive and all-inclusive, pre-natal to grave, universal— publicly funded, publicly administered, publicly delivered.

Such a health care system would require over 30,000 primary health care centers in communities and neighborhoods where primary health care would be provided for free.

Want jobs?

You got jobs; jobs, jobs and more jobs— over ten-million new good paying union jobs.

All this crap about “private industry” is just that; elephant and donkey dung.

The government providing public sector jobs where private profiteers gorging themselves at the public trough has to end.

A National Public Health Care System would be funded by ending these dirty imperialist wars and taxing the rich. The alternative— or in combination— would be financing the National Public Health Care System the same way that Social Security or our public schools or the Post Office is funded.

Isn’t it obvious to all that for any change to take place in this country we are going to have to build massive and powerful movements in the streets supported by a new third party capable of challenging Wall Street for power?

Well, why not make a National Public Health Care System and a National Public Child Care System the centerpieces of our struggle for people’s power?

A National Public Child Care System would provide another five-million new good-paying union jobs. Fund it the same way. Tax-the-hell out of the rich until they cry real tears— after all, it is the wealth that we, as working people, have created.

I am sure all the great “philanthropists” like Warren Buffett will be pleased.

Peace + tax-the-rich = Health Care + Child Care + 15 million Jobs; it is a very simple equation any child can understand— all it takes is for us to understand that it takes a powerful people’s movement creating a ruckus in the streets backed up by a working class led people’s party at the polls to achieve.

We really do have to educate and organize to unite the American people to fight against Wall Street for the kind of country we really want.

We need to understand what the Dumb Donkeys like Obama are desperately trying to obscure: The way to create jobs is by putting people to work solving the pressing problems of the people where the government becomes the employer— not of second choice or last choice— but where the government becomes the employer of first choice. I have yet to hear a teacher or any other public employee complain about receiving a nice government check with good benefits… in fact, I have never seen any of these politicians who decry government programs and “big government” turn down their government issued checks.

Think about it; if every single member of the House and Senate was a politician just like Barack Obama would we have the kind of country we want? Hell no!

The Democrats, even the "best" of them offer no more than "economic populism" free from any discussion about the role played by war and militarism when what we need is an anti-imperialist politics which brings to the American people the true cost of these dirty wars and how they kill jobs just like they kill people as we are deprived of health care and child care and the rest of our social programs and our standard of living is decimated through austerity measures to pay for these dirty wars that no one wanted to begin with and even fewer people support as the bills come due.

How is Barack Obama's Wall Street war economy working for you?

The need for anti-scab legislation

This is from a discussion taking place on FaceBook:

Minnesota 7th Congressional District Democrats (DFL CD Seven)

Given the lockout of the 1,300 workers at American Crystal Sugar which is now operating with scabs; has there been any discussion in the DFL about introducing anti-scab legislation here in Minnesota and in Congress? Perhaps Collin Peterson could be asked to introduce this kind of legislation in Congress and Leroy Stumpf could be asked to introduce anti-scab legislation in the Minnesota State Legislature. What does everyone think about this?
 ·  ·  · about an hour ago

    • Sandy Tracy The larger issue here is really the anti-union movement that is clearly in motion around the country.

    • Alan Maki There is definitely "the larger issue" but my suggestion is that DFL politicians should do their part in helping labor take on this "larger issue" by getting specific concerning this local problem. What do you think about anti-scab legislation?

    • Sandy Tracy How does labor feel about this approach?

    • Alan Maki What "labor?" I see all kinds of people involved in labor here on this page; I gave my view. I would like to hear any reasons for opposing this. How do you feel about anti-scab legislation, Stacy? Labor "leaders" led their members into this lockout trap. I don't understand why workers didn't take management's "final offer" if they weren't going to take over and occupy the plants.

But, now that all these scabs are being brought in this creates a social problem for us all; for our society.

Does anyone want to see the kind of violence that is going to erupt once workers start losing their homes, marriages breaking up, people not being able to put food on the table?

Employers always have the upper hand when it comes to labor-management disputes; these managements shouldn't be allowed to lockout workers by dictating a "final offer" and then bring in scabs to do their jobs.

Obama says he is for "collective bargaining."

Locking out workers is not part of the "collective bargaining" process. Bringing in scabs is not part of the "collective bargaining" process.

Maybe we should find out which side the 7th Congressional District Democrats are on in this lockout? Who supports the "right" of management to lockout these workers?

Who supports the "right" of American Crystal Sugar to bring in scabs?

      Who is for anti-scabbing legislation?

Who is opposed to anti-scabbing legislation?

I think we have the right to know where each of the elected officials from the 7th Congressional District stand on this issue no matter if they are elected to township boards, city councils, county boards, state and federal house or senate and Barack Obama himself.

I think it was a disgrace that on Labor Day with the largest lockout of workers underway Barack Obama talked about how he supported "collective bargaining" rights but he didn't utter one single word of admonishment to American Crystal Sugar management from the podium in Detroit.

More and more this is becoming a trend with employers in this country to lockout workers and bring in scabs as a way to get around the collective bargaining process. Certainly any Party with the word "Labor" in its name should be willing to take a stand in defense of workers being subjected to an employer lockout in its own back-yard.

Certainly the stench of scabs in our communities is every bit as offensive as pig and cow manure is it not?

Since there are all kinds of calls to support these locked-out workers from the workers themselves, I assume the American Crystal Sugar workers, along with the entire labor movement which is not monolithic in thinking, would welcome anti-scab legislation being introduced by the DFL at the state and federal levels.

Let's get the ideas and opinions on anti-scab legislation out here for discussion now that we have 1,300 locked-out workers. This is the time to talk about this.

      • Sandy Tracy As a former labor member, the practice of hiring scabs to replace union workers has been in place for years. At this point in time, I don't believe anti-scab legislation would go anywhere.

      • Alan Maki Sandy; do you see 7th Congressional District Democrats playing any role at all in this lockout? If so, what?

      • Sandy Tracy I can't answer that question for you.

      • Alan Maki Ok, I thought you lived in the 7th Congressional District.

      • Sandy Tracy I do live in CD7.

      • Alan Maki So, don't you have a position on this lockout? These are workers, many of whom live and/or work in the 7th Congressional District.

I have noticed there is no shyness when it comes to asking these workers and their families for campaign contributions and votes for DFL candidates. Don't these workers have a right to expect that the Party and politicians they support should now support them?

      • Sandy Tracy I am aware of the situation, but I don't have all the facts. I hear your pain and frustration, however.

      • Sandy Tracy I supported the workers in several Facebook actions.

I'm surprised no one from the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco and Grain Miller's Union representing the workers at American Crystal Sugar has brought everyone up to speed here on this page on the issues involved and fielded questions as well...See More

      • Alan Maki Whoops; I just noticed I posted that Collin Peterson is a Republican. Sorry about that Collin.

I tried to post this comment on anti-scabbing legislation:

I understand your point of view better now, Edward. I now have a different perspective on the problem of scabbing.

Maybe we should turn scabbing into a time honored profession.

Scabbing could be the solution to solving our unemployment problems.

Maybe Governor Dayton and the Minnesota state legislature working with MNScU could turn the training center at the St. Paul Ford Twin Cities Assembly Plant that will be closing into a training center for scabs. Give scabbing a degree and send Minnesotans out through the country working wherever there is a lockout or strike.

Given the current economic climate this could provide tens of thousands of jobs.

Is this coming to the 7th Congressional District if American Crystal Sugar workers decide to stand up for their rights and reject scabbing?
