Welcome to Bemidji, Minnesota where racism is the religion
Alan L. Maki
More people should begin standing up to these corrupt and racist politicians who have created an undemocratic and racist web to hold people down in poverty as a few of their friends profit. The MNDFL held its State Convention in Bemidji, Minnesota just a couple weeks ago and not one single member of the State Central Committee had the common human decency to point out that they were meeting in a City where the largest public works project in decades is underway to the tune of over 80 million dollars as part of the 1st phase of a half-billion dollar project mostly funded with tax-dollars and not only did city, county, state and federal elected and appointed public officials tried to sneak this through without enforcing affirmative action which through Executive Order #11246 is the law of the land when it comes to these kinds of public works projects--- but, even once exposed and challenged they give their middle finger and thumb their noses at the most important piece of civil rights legislation in this country.
And now these same racists--- Democrats and Republicans alike--- try to deny people the most fundamental and sacred rights touted to the world as being a feature of this great bastion of democracy: the right to run for public office and the right of people to vote for the candidates of their choice rather than these racist and corrupt politicians who are candidates because they are anointed at tightly controlled and rigged "nominating conventions" dominated by these same racist public officials... what do you call this? The "good old boys club."
What is taking place here should cause anyone with the least little bit of concern for human rights and democracy to hang their heads in shame.
Over a thousand people in northern Minnesota signed petitions to place the candidates of the new political party Warriors for Justice on the ballot and now another racist public official steps up to thwart the democratic rights of the people to run for public office so people have real alternatives at the polls.
