There is no politician more deserving of being defeated than the crooked and corrupt James Oberstar

Alan L. Maki

United States Congressman James “Jim” Oberstar is nothing but a worthless crook... liberals, progressives and the left should have given him the boot long ago... he is a worthless self-serving politician who talks out of one side of his mouth in breakfast meetings with the mining, forestry, engineering and construction firm managements and then goes talks out of the other side of his mouth at union meetings at night. Oberstar gives full and complete meaning to the word "schizophrenic." I once followed Oberstar around International Falls for a day… he told the Boise executives one story, a group of local elected officials another version of the same cock-and-bull story and another version to High School students and yet another version of the same story with a whole new twist to union members employed at Boise later that same evening… I felt like asking: Will the real Jim Oberstar please stand up?

Oberstar had the nerve to get up in front of over two-hundred people at the Freeman Forum on "Water, Water Everywhere" and called me a "liar" for saying that he backed the destructive peat mining in the Big Bog. He then went on to tell another lie... that he never heard anything about peat mining in the Big Bog even though it was he who personally boasted on the radio that he had brought through the deal which would create, "Jobs, Jobs, Jobs." Oberstar wasn't lying about creating these jobs--- all thirty of them that will pay $8.00 an hour according to Oberstar.

Oberstar is now supporting the ruinous sulfide mining on the Iron Range.
Oberstar supported allowing MinnTac to cleanse its tailing reservoir--- Clearwater Reservoir (now there is some name for one of the most contaminated bodies of water on earth)--- into either the Dark River or St. Louis watersheds... actually, Oberstar has the brilliant idea to allow the contamination of both watersheds because in his opinion dilution is the solution to pollution.

I find it interesting that Aaron Brown never suggested Oberstar's defeat by liberals, progressives and the left... the only real voices for real change and Oberstar has always been a thoroughly reactionary politician day in and day out; except on one special day: Election Day when he needs workers' votes to get elected... when Oberstar talks to working people he always shakes their hand... unfortunately his other hand is always extended behind his back ready to accept bribes from the mining, forestry, banking, telecommunications, engineering and construction firms.
Alaska may have a "bridge to nowhere" but while Oberstar was at the helm... a bridge collapsed and people died... have we forgotten?

Perhaps it is just wishful thinking that Oberstar will be defeated…
