Problems in our public schools

What I need are the specifics; not generalities. The specifics I would like need to come from Marcus concerning the specific school in question.

I have no doubt there is the racism you are claiming because I have assisted a number of our members in finding solutions to racist problems in the MPS as well as across this state... including up here in Warroad over in Thief River Falls, in Duluth and down in Mankato and communities in between--- including in Bemidji.

But, we can do nothing about a vague claim of "racism."

Like for you, this struggle against racism and institutionalized racism in the public schools across Minnesota this has been a problem for many of our members--- casino workers--- of all colors.

I will be happy to explain what I see and have documentation for to the MPS Board or any specific administrators and teachers.

No, I cannot blame the victims in my job. On the other hand, victims of racist injustices have a responsibility to document what they are claiming to be racist discrimination. As of this time, with all that has been written regarding Marcus' initial posting here on FaceBook, Marcus has not documented his problems with his daughter at the public school she attended as a Kindergartner. Marcus, as a community leader, organizer and activist certainly understands the importance of backing up his charges with specific facts.

Again, I ask, what school are we talking about; what were the problems encountered... it would be interesting to hear what Marcus did to try to remedy the problems which led to him removing his daughter from the Minneapolis Public School system and what the responses were from school board members, the principal and teacher involved.

As far as I know, I have never met Zach. I am glad he is a community activist from the Southside... we have many members on the Southside employed at Mystic Lake Casino... I guess I am surprised that Zach has never raised any concerns about the terms of employment of these Southside residents.

I have worked with a number of community activists from the Southside concerning the plight of casino workers on and off their jobs.

I would be inclined to be part of a group, hopefully including you, Marcus and Zach, organized to meet with the public school officials/personnel required to remedy the problems in a way that would encourage Marcus to re-enroll his daughter in the MPS where she, and all other children, have the right to the education mandated by local, state and federal laws and statutes. I assume that if Marcus is convinced all these criteria are met that he would reconsider and revisit his decision.

I consider it very important that people have confidence in our public institutions--- especially our public schools, our most important public institution--- at a time when public institutions are coming under increasing attack from foes and "fair-weather" friends, alike, as those who seek to solve all of our problems through privatizing everything in their quest for maximum profits.
