Some people say that Obama WANTS to do the right thing, but those nasty Republicans in the House and Senate keep blocking him. Let me tell you ONE thing Obama could do that they COULD NOT block: Go on the radio and TV and EDUCATE the voters.... He could explain to them why there is NO need to do ANYTHING about Social Security this year. (just to cite one small example). He could do a Power Point presentation showing the projections that have been made and the assumptions on which those projections are based. But does he do that? No. He leads the public to believe that SOMETHING must be done, RIGHT AWAY, and thereby leaves the door open for Republicans to cripple or destroy Social Security -- while Democrats weep and moan and drag their heels, but EVENTUALLY (with a sigh) vote for a "compromise" that weakens Social Security but does not IMMEDIATELY destroy it entirely.
